Len Horton's Butchers Shop was on the Alum Rock Road, Saltley, Birmingham. The premises were originally built as a butchers and date back to the 19th century. Len took over the business from being an apprentice in 1942 he retired on Valentines Day (Feb 14th) 1998.
These photographs were taken with a primitive Kodak DC40 digital camera, the quality is low compared to modern cameras. As part of an exploration into digital photography this was my first documentary study using this technology. Titled "Blue Brick, Red Paint & Sawdust" this work formed part of the work for my MA degree at BIAD, Birmingham. UK.
