Shooting with a Fuji X10

Just started using a Fuji X10 alongside my slrs. Its very intuitive to use & the exposure metering is accurate. The "twisty" zoom control & solid metal build means it will stand up to a lot of use/abuse.

I'm able to get shots easily in crowded areas, the lens is sharp & relatively flare free at full aperture.

Heres a few from last Saturday.

Hi David,

I'm a big fan of the Fuji X100 myself and it's become my take everywhere camera. How do you find the X10 in low light and is there noticeable shutter lag? I would love to take a punt on the X-E1 with the 35mm 1.4 lens and shoot wedding receptions with it (so much lighter than a 5DMKII with 50mm 1.2 on board).

Cheers, Graham

p.s. what's the odd thing on top of the camera?

Hi Graham,
The X10 is not good above iso 800, the work I shoot with it is not likely to be printed above 7x5 so noise doesn't show. Also it gets converted to black & white so noise isn't a problem-just looks grainy. Shutter lag is not too bad-this is a consumer camera so can't expect too much of it. It works well shooting alongside my Nikons but not as a front line camera. The thing on the hot shoe is an old Leica VIOOH viewfinder as I'm 52 & blind as a bat without me glasses I find this really useful-I didn't buy it for this camera it was knocking about in a drawer,
Thanks for your comments
Dave
Hi David,

I thought that might be the case. I tried the Fuji X-E1 out in LCE and was impressed with the lack of shutter lag. Bit of a punt to get one based on a 2 minute try out in a shop though.

Whoever thought that having a camera viewfinder half the size of a stamp was a good idea was obviously under the age of 25. I might get myself one of those things for my 5D MKII : )
